Programs
Northspan manages three regional programs that work to foster economic development and the growth of human capital in their respective service areas. Northspan programs cultivate connections between communities and businesses, and aim toward a holistic economic development strategy for the region.

Northland Connection was created in 1987 as part of a regional strategy to attract new industries. The program has become a regional resource for data and analysis, and operates with support from 19 regional funding partners. It serves as a portal for economic development information across an eight-county region in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, and hosts databases of business development resources and available properties in the region.

NORTHFORCE is a collaborative initiative of Northspan, APEX, the IRRRB, and the Cities of Duluth and Superior. NORTHFORCE launched in 2014, and attracts, manages, places, enriches, and retains talent throughout the Northland. It connects job-seekers and employers and works to facilitate smooth job and employee searches for all parties.

The Upper Minnesota Film Office (UMFO) has cultivated video production opportunities in the area since 1996. It serves as the point of contact for film production across northeastern Minnesota and supports projects throughout their development.
