In the last month, Northspan has welcomed two new staff members: Operations Specialist Ashley Luna and Intern John Lukan.
As operations specialist, Ashley assists in administrative operations and provides logistical support for regional partnerships. She also supports Northspan-powered programs, including Northland Connection, NORTHFORCE, and the Minnesota Opportunity Collaborative (MNOppCo).
Ashley previously worked for a non-profit organization providing advocacy and case management services to at-risk youth in the Duluth area. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
“I’m excited to learn about all the collaborative work that goes into our communities, workforce, and development,” shared Ashley, who grew up in Duluth, where she is now raising her family. She spends her time outside of work with family, getting outdoors, gardening, working on arts/crafts projects, and cooking.
John is a business analytics student at the University of Minnesota Duluth also pursuing a minor in information systems management. He brings a knowledge of SQL and Java programming, an Excel certification, and experience in sales among other valuable skills to Northspan.
“The opportunity at Northspan really excites me because it is exactly what I am looking forward to doing with my degree: being able to crunch numbers, but then create a story from them and find new angles and connections within them that can have an impact on my community,” shared John.
