Case Study: Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin

ADVANCING A HEALTHIER WISCONSIN | 2020-2021

Challenge: A coalition of partners in Douglas County, Wisconsin sought to better understand resources and flows within its network and sought to strengthen collaboration among its organizations to address behavioral health crises. While numerous organizations in the county shared a commitment to supporting people through various support systems, they did not always understand each other’s roles or partner in the most effective ways possible.

Role: Northspan facilitated a comprehensive process that prepared the AHW team for interviews on system process gaps, pressure points, and opportunities for change. Using a Change Statement, the group completed a consensus workshop to create its vision, and based on these components, Northspan facilitated focus groups with five groups of organizations involved in behavioral health crisis response. This information was synthesized into process maps that identified gaps in the system and compiled into a final report.

Results: The final report presented a series of goals and recommendations for Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin to address challenges identified in the process. Using this information, stakeholders are actively pursuing a Peer Run Respite and have created and distributed a Mental Health Support Flyer.
