Northspan is pleased to announce that President & CEO Elissa Hansen is the new facilitator for Community Advisory Panels (CAPs) in Itasca County and on the East Range. These panels, which meet eight times a year, provide community updates and bring in speakers on topics of immediate relevance to the respective communities. Topics include updates on major local projects, overviews of regional industries, and feature updates from sponsors and local staff.
“Minnesota Power is pleased to continue its relationship with Northspan both on the East Range and in Itasca County,” said Minnesota Power Regional Development Representative Arik Forsman. “Elissa’s skills and expertise make her the perfect partner to carry on former Northspan President Randy Lasky’s legacy of providing excellent facilitation for the CAPs.”
The East Range CAP is organized and funded by both Minnesota Power and PolyMet, while ItasCAP is funded solely by Minnesota Power. Historically, Northspan also facilitated a Taconite Harbor CAP when Minnesota Power had an operational power plant in the community and has managed follow-up sessions regarding the facility’s future.
“Northspan’s professional, well-respected style makes them an excellent match for CAP,” said LaTisha Gietzen, PolyMet’s Director of Public Affairs. “We’re excited to work with Elissa as we continue to bring timely, important topics before our East Range community partners.”
